“I never get to see the moment of your magic unfurling the original working drawings of James’. This one hasn’t been seen in over thirty years,“ I said to Matt Meers- curator, as we filmed this new discovery in process for today’s Rediscovered Art interview.
“Just because you can’t explain magic, doesn’t mean it is less magical,” he answered, quoting our youngest legacy team member- Rhiannon Wallace.
“James had great archival skills, and through James’ archives we can experience his process. It is all around us to discover in a way that feels like we are in the moment! His level of detail is mindblowing, especially in this drawing where he is mathematically working out the Fibonacci sequence that is found in Nature. His respect for nature speaks that life is consciousness. It places ourselves within nature, and also nature within ourselves. James is conveying to people that we are walking talking nature. That we need to respect our relatives… in all of the natural world”
“I can see the whole journey. The art making journey is what makes the artist.”
