In memory of James Yale’s passing on August 18, 2023, I am excited to announce that 10 of James’ paintings will be joining the Generational Journeys Art Exhibit at The Medium in Springdale, Arkansas, starting September 6th, 2024 and running through October 1st. It will be the first time James Yale paintings have been seen by the public in over 16 years. The admission is free.
The Generational Journeys Art Exhibit, sponsored by The Medium, located at 414 S Main Street in Springdale, Arkansas, is a combined exhibition featuring art from professional seasoned artists and students throughout Northwest Arkansas. Besides the artwork of James Yale, other professional artists featured include Judy Mauer, Cynthia Tran, Diane Stinebaugh, and Whitney Bell. Student artists included in the exhibit are Syveria Hull, Bennet Zeck, Stella Decker, Meadow McGinnis, Cora Hardin, Brooke Saylors, Chas Jones, Stella Skarsten, Rhiannon Wallace, Miya Jeck, Ramey Jones, Chris Batchelor, Asher Munneke, and August Munneke.
This exhibit would mean the world to James, for he was an early proponent of Generational Journeys. He believed firmly in the traditional apprenticeship model of knowledge applied in real world settings, for young artists to experience an early exposure of apprenticing in order to understand the many aspects of the art world. He championed the fair exchange of skills between professional artists and today’s young apprentices with their skill in technology to preserve and document the legacies of elder artists’ bodies of work. He would be pleased to join and inspire the next generation of artists with this exhibit.
For the Grand Opening of Generational Journeys, Sept 12th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, there will be a videographer ready to capture your stories of James Yale the artist. James has been out of the public eye due to living with multiple sclerosis for over 35 years. I realized with his passing, that I knew my husband, but I did not know the artist before I came into his life sixteen years ago.
Your stories are so much appreciated as we all rediscover the master artist, James Yale for the future documentary- The Lost Artist of the Ozarks.
With gratitude,
Charlotte Buchanan Yale
