Mer Mom Found- Interview with Jessica Dicken Rhodes- Mer Mom

Jun 22, 2026

Dear James Yale Art Detectives,

Thank you for adding another amazing human to our James Yale Legacy family. Like dragonflies on the pond, you all get to eavesdrop on Jessica and my conversation.

Yesterday on a day of cleaning, I found an interview with James by Donice Woodside titled: James Yale: Myth and Metaphysics.

It inspired me to introduce today’s post in James’ own words.

“We are just conduits. If you put a circuit in a box, and hide it, the circuit can’t be completed. I’m just making little messages in time bottles and putting them out in the ocean. I’m trying to relate –to reach out and touch somebody and make a connection.

“For 500 years, the Mona Lisa has stood the test of time. It stirs a lot of emotion. If you can put a message in a bottle and affect people hundreds of years from now, you’re a conduit of a form of universal knowledge and creative energy. The energy is already there: it has a life of its own before a person takes up the pencil or a paint brush” –
James Yale

“James Yale’s mythical portrayals of local characters and landscapes lure us beyond ordinary consciousness and into contemplation of the mysterious miracle of our own existence.” –
Donice Woodside

Lovely Art Detectives… My gratitude to you for expanding each week’s discovery of The Lost Artist of the Ozarks.
