Rediscovered Art

Interview with Calvin Cotton

Nov 25, 2025

In this week’s next chapter in the “Rediscovered Art” of James Yale, Melanie and I are on the trail to meet Calvin Cotton at Geographics Printing Company in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Calvin, a longtime friend and collaborator created reproductions of James artwork.

Our visit to see Calvin is three-fold, to unveil orginal artwork, but to also look to 2026 in creating limited edition wearable art to support the James Yale Legacy Project.

I always want to include all of you in the stories behind the art, and also in 2026, I want to create an opportunity for YOU or your creative writing classes to share your creativity and imaginations.

Society needs modern myths. And James Yale was a myth maker of his day Each month we will post an image of James’ art and invite you to look deeper into the painting and tell their own modern myth. What if you came upon this tableau? How it would it make you feel,? Does it trigger an emotion, inspire poetry or a short story. Did it rekindle the holy grail where magic is back in the world? For in these times when magic seems to be a dying light … the “collective we” is missing magic in our busy lives, and yet, we are always in pursuit of it.

Look for more information about this creative opportunity in January 2026.
